Barbara J. Chase, 83, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, Jan. 16, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

Barbara was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Norwalk to the late Walter and Lucy (Stoneham) Schlegelmilch. She was a graduate of the 1957 class of Norwalk High School. Barbara was a dedicated employee of Fisher-Titus Medical Center, serving as a nurse's aide and surgical transport team member for more than 40 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed ceramics, canning, gardening, fishing, and boating.

Barbara is survived by her children, Michelle (Richard) Schaffer of Norwalk and Randy (Tracy) Chase of Collins; son-in-law, Tom Hipp; grandchildren, Ashley Schaffer, Bryson (Kristin) Schaffer, Anthony Hipp, and Tess (Seth) Todd; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Alicia) Schlegelmilch and Walter (Pat) Schlegelmilch and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ronald B. Chase; and daughter, Beverly Hipp.

A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.18, 2023, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at St. Alphonsus Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, OH 44857.
