Rev. Thomas Joseph Klonk Sr.
Mar 21, 1960 - Mar 15, 2026
Norwalk
Reverend Thomas Joseph Klonk Sr., 65, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 21, 1960, in Berea, to Theodore "Ted" and Anna Mae Klonk.
Thomas gave his life to Jesus Christ in March 1978 as a high school senior. Originally raised Catholic, he had a powerful conversion experience while driving home from a Pentecostal church service, an encounter that changed the course of his life forever. From that moment on, Thomas walked faithfully with the Lord and devoted his life to sharing the Gospel with others. He served in jail ministry at the Huron County Jail for 16 years, where he witnessed countless miracles and lives transformed by the power of God. His faith was the foundation of everything he did.
Thomas was a hardworking man who took pride in his craft. He was a Journeyman Welder for 43 years and an HVAC-certified technician who managed multiple buildings at Cleveland Clinic. He retired from General Motors.
An avid outdoorsman, Thomas was a lifelong hunter, trapper, and fisherman. Duck hunting was his first pick, but he shot his share of deer and bucks and caught many fish over the years. He loved being in God's creation.
Thomas was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife, Darlene, built a beautiful, blended family; hers, mine, and ours. He loved every one of his children and grandchildren with all his heart. The Holy Spirit prompted Thomas to write a book of testimonies, God Said This Today! A Testimony of Hearing God's Voice, for his children and grandchildren, as well as with the hope that his stories could help lead someone to the Lord. That book stands as a lasting testament to his faith and the miraculous things God did through his life.
Thomas married Darlene "Dar" Klonk, January 16, 1988, at Trinity Temple in Milan, Ohio. Together, they made their home in
Norwalk, Ohio, and they were married for over 38 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene "Dar" Klonk of Norwalk; his children, Shannon and Mark Vogus, Shannon and Brent Berigan, Krista and Chris Coleman, Ashley and Kevin Obermeyer, and Thomas Klonk Jr.; 11 grandchildren, Eian Farrell and Cole Vogus, Vivienne Fantozzi, Blakely Berigan, Max and Lana Klonk, Hunter, Ethan and Taylor Coleman, and Arlo and Ophelia Obermeyer; his siblings, Chris and Amy Klonk, Debbie Klonk, Mary and Lynn Wilgrube, Anita and Paul Fantozzi, Pete and Paula Klonk, and Colleen and Craig Casselberry; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore "Ted" and Anna Mae Klonk; his daughter, Tiffany Fantozzi; and his brother, Dan Klonk.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Sandusky Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Rd., Sandusky.
