Raymond Oney Obituary

Raymond A. Oney

Sep 8, 1951 - Jan 31, 2025

Greenwich

Raymond A. Oney, 73, of Greenwich, died Friday, January 31, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. He was born September 8, 1951, in Willard, the son of the late Fred and Wanda (Kennard) Oney.

Raymond was a lifelong resident of Greenwich and graduated from South Central High School. Following graduation, Raymond went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1969 until 1975. He proudly served on the USS Neosho Fuel Ship A0143 and the US Rich (DD-820) Destroyer as a fireman in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Mediterranean seas. He was a member of North Fairfield American Legion. Raymond truly enjoyed his service in the US Navy.

Back home, Raymond worked for Oney's Milky Way Farm and drove truck for Pat Riley. He looked forward to his high school reunions and attended them regularly. Raymond was fond of his dogs, they were a constant companion for him and worthy of a good conversation. He was known for his love of all types of music, from classic country to rock and roll.

Raymond is survived by his brothers, Gerald (Connie) Oney of Greenwich and Gordon Oney of North Fairfield; sisters-in-law, Shirley Oney, of Arizona and Mary Oney of New London. Raymond was particularly fond of his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, who will cherish the time they spent with Uncle Raymond.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ronald, who died at birth; brothers, Larry, Mitchell and Alfred Oney; sisters-in-law, Katherine and Corinne Oney.

Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of his funeral service, beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W Main St. Greenwich, OH 44837, with Pastor Mark Wireman officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
