James Boose Obituary

James Lauren "Jim" Boose

Aug 2, 1937 - Dec 8, 2023

Norwalk

James Lauren "Jim" Boose went Home to the Lord peacefully Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, as his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Mary Generose, was by his side.

He was born Aug. 2, 1937, in Norwalk. He lived in Norwalk for 65 years and also was a resident of Bradenton, Florida, for 21 years.

Jim was a graduate of St. Paul High School in Norwalk and was an Army veteran. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Milan, as well as Ss. Peter and Paul the Apostles in Bradenton, Florida. Jim was a fruit/vegetable farmer all his life. He proudly served as President of Boose Farms, Inc., Booseland Inc., and several terms of Ohio Vegetable and Potato Growers Association. Jim was also a partner of Boose's Farm Market. He was secretary and treasurer of Cleveland Growers Marketing Co. He was a member of Ohio State Agriculture Research Board, Huron County Agricultural Extension Advisory Board, American Farm Bureau Board, and Huron County Airport Authority Board. Jim was well-known as a huge Ohio State fan, as well as Cleveland Browns, Guardians, and Cavaliers. He truly enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as he attended sports games, graduations, weddings, and loved their visits to his Bradenton home. He cherished family reunions the best, as this gave him the chance to enjoy his entire family at one time. He loved traveling with his wife to different parts of the world and enjoyed his numerous activities at Timber Creek, (Bradenton, FL) where he met a variety of friends.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Generose (Swick); sons, Craig (Karen), Brian (Sharon), and Ken (Brenda); daughters, Linda (Rex) Dunn, Kathleen (Patrick) McVey, Diane (Dave), Moyer, Donna (Rich) Marett, Tracie (Todd) Sebolt, and Lisa Boose (daughter-in-law); 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Rita), Ronald (Serena), and Terry (Mary Lisa); sisters, Marlene Tein, Sandra (Vern) Swick, Karen (Paul) Lieber, Sue (Jack) Flick, Marsha (Gary) Keefer, and Cindy (Larry) Skinn; two sisters-in-law, Sue Swick and Linda Swick; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Boose; father, Raymond F. Boose; mother, Madeline Boose (nee Widman); sister, Debra Boose; granddaughter, Jacqueline Boose; brothers-in-law, Tom Hosang, John Tein, Tom Swick, and Kevin Swick; father-in-law, Howard Swick; and mother-in-law, Mary Swick (nee Zureich).
