Renee Arnita Smith Esannason was born on June 2, 1969, in
Plainfield, New Jersey, to Brenda and Arthur "Foots" Smith Jr. In 1987 she graduated from Plainfield High School. Renee's life was defined by resilience, unwavering positivity, and a steadfast faith in the power of prayer, which uplifted everyone around her.
Renee began her spiritual journey at Community Church of God in Plainfield, where she grew under the leadership of the late Burton and Shirley Cathie. As a devoted member, she led a Girl Scout troop, sang in the choir, and poured her heart into the church's prayer team. In 2023, Renee joined Upon This Rock Family Ministries in Decatur, Georgia, under the leadership of Pastor Deborah Griggs. There, she continued to flourish-serving on the intercessory prayer team, working with the teen ministry, participating in outreach programs, and helping to feed the homeless.
Renee was a lifelong learner who believed deeply in the power of education and personal growth. She earned her Associate of Arts in Humanities and Business Administration. In June 2025, Renee earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, graduating with a 3.9 GPA and recognition on the President's List. These academic milestones were a testament to her perseverance, determination, and love of learning.
Although she once dreamed of a nursing career, Renee found fulfillment in her role as a Certified Medical Assistant at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital, where she compassionately cared for patients and brought comfort to those in need.
After leaving Plainfield, Renee resided between Maryland and Georgia before officially settling in Georgia in 2007. On October 11, 2025, Renee departed this life and went home to be with the Lord. Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, compassion, and unwavering love for her family, friends, and community. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promise of eternal life.
Renee was preceded in death by her father, Arthur "Foots" Smith Jr. She is survived by her mother, Brenda; her siblings, Reginald his wife Tangelia; Renada, and Robin; her children, Ashley, Artyse, Arthur Jr., Amani and her husband Christian; A'Jana, and Austin; and her grandchildren, Isis, Jah'Sean, Ayiden, and Kenji.
