Peggy E. Windnagle, 90, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, November 24, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
Peggy was born January 18, 1935, in Sandusky. She was a 1953 graduate of Sandusky High School. In her earlier days, she had worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell Co., as a quality control inspector at Grill Meats, and at Arnold Palmer Motors, and later at Furry Elementary School cafeteria.
Over the years, Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and had also attended Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue.
Peggy is survived by her sons, Daniel (Sally) Windnagle of Scottsdale, Arizona and Christopher (Deanna) Windnagle of Kodiak, Alaska; daughter Lisa (Steve) Alexander of Graceton, Pennslyvania; and her 10 grandchildren, Christopher (Julie) and Katherine Windnagle, Emily (Brent) Cairns, Caitlin Michaels, Heather (Kenny) Shields, Matthew (Leah) Windnagle, Megan Windnagle, Allie, Matthew and Julieann Alexander; and nine great-grandchildren, Willow, Zachary, Kenneth, Brandyn, Charlie, Christopher, Molly, Jacob, and Kolt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marguerite Shelby; her husband of 52 years, Ernest A. "Ernie" Windnagle, August 19, 2007; two daughters, Julie Ann Windnagle in infancy July 4, 1959 and Renee Michaels, October 23, 2024; a brother, Thomas Shelby; and her stepparents, Lester and Lenore Syrstad.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Rev. Chris Turner officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Sorrowful Mother Shrine, 4106 N. Ohio 269, Bellevue, OH 44811.

I am so sorry for her family, as she was one sweet, precious lady. I worked with Peggy many years ago at Furry school. She taught me patience. She told me " Kid you wear your heart on your sleeve, that's not a bad thing." God had blessed me the day I met her. May she rest in peace in heaven along with Ernie.
