Mr. Haeuptle was one of my favorite teachers. He made science fun and interesting and really cared about every student. His controlled smirk meant job well done. Playing basketball all 4 years of high school, he was always up coaching wrestling looking down occasionally to the gym, apparently noticing how many lay ups I missed and letting me know with his consistent smirk and sarcastic funny tone the next day in class. He would say maybe if you just slowed down a little bit one would go in. In my adult life, I played many sports at the rec center and had the privilege of meeting his wonderful wife, Kathleen, while they would walk the track routinely. They were always so health conscious and fit doing it with a smile. He was still looking down and would jokingly comment with that smirk and the tone about a missed serve or basket. It was such an honor to see them there weekly and it always put a smile on my face. Today I am sure he is looking down and smirking with something funny to say to all those that he loved and cared about so deeply. Thank you Mr. Haeuptle for making the world a better place with your kind caring heart. Much sympathy and love to all of his family and to his beautiful wife, Kathleen. He was very admired and loved by so many. He will be very missed and always remembered fondly. He was a good man.
