Margaret Kern Obituary

Margaret L. Kern

Sep 20, 1952 - Feb 12, 2025

Norwalk

Margaret L. Kern passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Margaret was born September 20, 1952, in Norwalk. She married her childhood sweetheart, and together, they spent many years running businesses and raising their two children in various parts of the country before returning to Norwalk and settling back in.

Margaret had an adventurer's spirit and loved to travel. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. Her greatest passion in her later years of life was advocating for children. She volunteered with the CASA program and was a strong, courageous voice for needy children. She also, along with her second husband, helped care for and raise her grandson, who provided her with the most joy in her life.

Margaret will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a loyal friend. She was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.

Margaret is survived by her brothers and their wives, Tom and Dorothy Kern, Mike and Kathi Kern, Jim and Donna Kern, and Chris and Rose Kern; her first husband, Craig E. Morse; her daughter, Jenny Heitsche (Morse); her grandchildren, Codee and Destiny Heitsche and Jacob Morse; and her great-grandson, Weston Heitsche; along with many, many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Carol Kern; her son, Craig L. Morse; and her second husband, Jim Herner.

On behalf of Margaret's wishes, there will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret would prefer donations to CASA/GAL National Association for Children, 100 W. Harrison Street North Tower, Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98119.

Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville has been entrusted with arrangements.

Margaret was a fellow classmate at Western Reserve. She was committed to education and community involvement. A fun-loving, adventuresome young lady that pursued her interested with dedication. She had a smile for everyone that she met and the world has lost a ray of sunshine.
