Larry Schlessman Obituary

Larry Schlessman

Jul 15, 1942 - Jan 13, 2023

Huron, Ohio

Larry "Bear" Schlessman, 80, of Huron, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Stein Hospice Care Center. He was born in Sandusky July 15, 1942, to the late Wilma (Mitchell) and Arthur Schlessman. Larry was a 1960 graduate of Sandusky High School, and was a farmer and shareholder in the Schlessman Seed Co.

Larry was a lifelong member of St John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Rockwell Trout Club. He was a loving and caring family man, proud grandpa and enjoyed attending his grandkids sporting events. He was a forever Cleveland Indians Fan and Ohio State fan. Larry was the longtime manager of Schlessman Seed softball team. He played dart ball in both Erie and Huron county leagues. But nothing was better than spending time with his family, especially if it included playing pinochle or euchre.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dawn (Moosbrugger) Schlessman, whom he married Aug. 30, 1992; a daughter, Julie (Mark) Skaggs of Avon Lake; three grandchildren, John, Lauren & Sarah; a brother, John (Lori) Schlessman of Sandusky; three sisters, Ann (David) Voight & Joyce (Daryl) Deering both of Sandusky and Sally (Pat) Davie-Kelley of Huron.

In addition to his parents; Larry was preceded in death by his son Joe Schlessman in 2010.

Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky.

Memorial Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at St John's Lutheran Church, 106 Scheid Road, Sandusky, with Rev. Stacy Lauer-Scovanner officiating.
