John Lodermeier Obituary

John M. "Jack" Lodermeier

Nov 13, 1951 - Jan 19, 2024

Norwalk

John M. "Jack" Lodermeier, 72, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, after an over 10-year battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born Nov. 13, 1951, to Leon and Imelda (Widman) Lodermeier. Jack was a 1970 graduate of Norwalk St. Paul Catholic High School, where he proudly was a team member of the 1969 state championship football team. After graduation, he attended Denver Diesel Tech School then returned to Norwalk to continue his extensive career at Lodermeier's Linwood Garage, later named Linwood Automotive. In 1997, Jack won the Bosch Service Technician's Contest by scoring the highest in the United States. Jack and his wife, Pam, traveled to Germany where Jack competed against 25 other national champions. In addition to being a world class mechanic and champion football player, Jack was a lot of things to a lot of people. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and complete pushover for his German Shepherds. He had a true passion for working on cars and enjoyed building and his own Volkswagen Race Cars to take to Norwalk Raceway Park where he spent many weekends working as a safety technician if he wasn't racing himself. Jack was kind, generous, and most knew him as a bit ornery, but was always there to help a friend or stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Lodermeier of Norwalk; daughters, Jamie (Rob Fay) Lodermeier-Fay of Republic and Jessica (Randy Webb) Lodermeier of Delaware; grandsons, Jack, Andrew, Colby, Jacob, and Caleb; siblings, William Lodermeier, Mary Pat Lodermeier, and Jeff Lodermeier; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Imelda in 1994; and father, Leon in 2014.

A celebration of Jack's life will be 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, where family and friends are welcome to share their memories of Jack throughout the celebration. Deacon Mike Wasiniak, longtime friend and former teammate, will offer a prayer blessing at 6 p.m. Following the celebration of life, Jack's family invites all to join them at Glass Bar, 45 E. Main Street, Norwalk, to continue to share stories and memories of Jack.
