Joan E. (Welfle) McFadden, 71, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 17, 2025, after a lengthy, 10-year battle with cancer. She was born June 22, 1954, in Norwalk, to Harold and Joan (Baltes) Welfle, and was a 1972 Norwalk High School graduate.

Joan loved being outside, especially when she was near water, at the beach, or sailing. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren.

She worked for Huron County Bank and Smith Paving and Excavating, where she handled payroll. Joan was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Neil McFadden; children, Sean (Amanda) McFadden, Jenifer (Jon) Naseman, and Erin (Shaun) Gallahaire; grandchildren, Aiden, Grady, Nolan, and Kayla Naseman, and Madelyn Gallahaire; her "grand pups"; her siblings, Steve Welfle, Sue Welfle, Denny (Lori) Welfle, Nancy (Russ) Welfle, Kay (Kevin) Theisen, John (Brenda) Welfle, Deb (Lad) Miklovic, Bill (Lisa) Welfle, Mary Wetzel, Tim (Whitney) Welfle, and Bob Welfle; sister in-law, Sandy Welfle; and aunt, Carol Baltes.

In addition to her parents, Harold and Joan (Baltes) Welfle; she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Welfle; and sisters-in-law, Caryl and Margo Welfle.

Funeral Mass for Joan will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk, with the Rev. Anthony Recker presiding.
