George Albert "Pat" Scheid, 90, passed away peacefully Dec. 31, 2023, at Swanton Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Pat was born on St. Patrick's Day – March 17, 1933 – at Norwalk Memorial Hospital to William F. and Naomi M. (Burden) Scheid. He graduated as Salutatorian of the Monroeville High School class of 1951.
Pat served in U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and was a member of the 6th Army Honor Guard (1954-1955).
He graduated from Bowling Green State University in Feb., 1958, with a major in accounting. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. During his junior year, he was selected by TV star Jayne Meadows as Bowling Green University's "Key" King.
Pat spent most of his career as a Certified Public Accountant, retiring in Aug., 2002.
Pat was a member of First Faith Community Church in Sandusky, and Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville. He was a Life Member of Kiwanis International in Sandusky and Genoa and was past Ohio District Secretary. Pat was also a Life Member of American Legion (Post 83 in Sandusky, Post 324 in Genoa), Amvets (Post 17 in Sandusky), and an over 50-year Mason (Roby Lodge #534 in Monroeville). He also found time to serve as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Serving Our Seniors.
Pat is survived by his wife, Georgia Ann (Shoup) Scheid; sons, Jeffrey A. (Michelle Wadding) of Sandusky and David G. of
Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Lisa (Haines) Deal (Jim) and Leslie (Haines) Power (Vince); four stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; nephew, Rick Van Den Bossche; nieces, Krista O'Neill and Ronda Van Den Bossche; four great-nephews and great-nieces; one great-grandniece; and four former stepchildren, Gail (Wright) Morgan, Marta (Brasch) Miller (Tim), Lisa (Brasch) Adams, and Dr. Martin J. Brasch, and their families which include six stepgrandchildren, 10 stepgreat-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Van Den Bossche; and brother-in-law, Ronald Van Den Bossche.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, until the time of Pat's memorial service at 10 a.m. at First Faith Community Church, 225 E. Jefferson St., Sandusky.
A graveside ceremony with military honors will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, followed by a luncheon at Sandusky American Legion 3615 Hayes Ave.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Faith Community Church or Monroeville Public Schools.
