Gene F. Krull, 91, formerly of Monroeville, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025, on his living room sofa, just like he repeatedly said he wanted, in his home, in Largo, Florida.

He was born March 27, 1934, in New Paris, Indiana, to Francis Krull and Fern (MorningStar) Shepherd.

In 1951, he moved to Norwalk, where he met the love of his life, Sally Schug. They were married March 1, 1952, and were married for 44 years before her passing February 8, 1996. Together they raised four children, Alice Crawford, Robert (Lynette) Krull, Debra Lundberg and Eric (Susan) Krull.

While in Monroeville, he owned and operated Krull's Sunoco, which is now Pean's Pizza, Subs, and Sudz. He was the engineer for Monroeville Fire Department and the bus mechanic for Monroeville schools.

In 1976, he, Sally, and their youngest son, Eric, moved to Largo, Florida. He owned and operated Gene's Lawn Service for many years before his long-overdue retirement.

Gene was a hard worker and quite the jokester! He started many conversations with "Hey, listen to this #@$!".

Gene enjoyed riding his Harley and playing golf. He was a proud member of Nooners Golf Group at Pelican Golf Course.

Along with Joy McLean, his companion of over 20 years, they traveled across the country to play at many scenic golf courses.

In addition to his four children; Gene is survived by three sisters, Sue Shepherd, Jo Ann Urfer, and Judy Boyd; 11 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Sally; and parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Krull; and son-in-law, Jerry Crawford.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville. Pastor Bob Hudberg will officiate.

Lunch and a celebration of Gene's life will be immediately following service at 18th S. Main Street, Suite B, Monroeville.
