Donna J. (Lenyo) Gast, 89, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at home surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Donna was born Dec. 4, 1934, on Kelleys Island, to George and Mary (Sennish) Lenyo.

Donna graduated from Kelleys Island High School. She was a homemaker and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always placed her family first. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, Norbert, to Canada and Toledo.

Donna is survived by her sons, George Gast of Castalia and Gary (Lisa) Gast; grandchildren, Bryan (Lauren) Gast, Jessica (Frank) Didion, and Eric (Marina) Gast; brothers, David Lenyo and George (Peggy) Lenyo, both of Sandusky; sister, Rose Fries of Orlando, Florida; great-grandchildren, Ty Gast, Reid Didion, Kash Didion, Wes Gast, Wil Heery, Penelope Gast, and Noelle Gast; loving cat, Maddie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2017, Norbert, whom she married Oct. 24, 1953; grandson, Scott Gast in 2014; and sisters, Justine Lenyo, Maryann (Lenyo) Wells, and Janet (Lenyo) Riffle.

At Donna's request, there will be no visitation and private family Mass will be at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place at Castalia Cemetery.
