Darlene M. Pitzer, 71, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at home after a lengthy illness.

Darlene was born April 2, 1952, in Sandusky, to the late Walter and Louanna (Lash) Tippie.

Darlene worked in retail and owned and operated her own cleaning business, but most enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother. She was raised in the Catholic faith and in her spare time, she enjoyed scrap booking, crafts, making greeting cards, crocheting blankets, baking, and cooking. Darlene loved her fur babies and feeding the birds, squirrels, and natural wildlife around the house. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Leon E. Pitzer, whom she married Nov. 21, 1969; two daughters, Leslie (Bryon) Evans of Clyde and Melissa (Dudley) Holland III of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Shaun (Michelle) McLaughlin, Quinn Holland, and Leon Holland; three great-grandchildren, Aria, Skylar, and Lorelai; sister, Cheryl Bledsoe of Huron; three brothers, Claude Tippie of Bellevue, Walter (Lisa) Tippie of Bellevue, and Jimmy (Bette) Tippie of Castalia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Darlene's funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Lehr presiding.
