Charles Peters Obituary

Charles "Rodney" Peters

May 18, 1956 - Dec 5, 2023

Sandusky

Charles "Rodney" Peters Jr., 67, of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at his residence after fiercely fighting a brief and challenging battle with ALS.

He was born March 18, 1956, in Sandusky, to Charles R. and Thelma L. (Sartor) Peters Sr.

Rodney graduated from Perkins High School in 1975. At a young age, Rodney was a hard worker. He would spend many spring and summers on the family garden. Rodney worked at Corso's Cleveland Road Greenhouse in Sandusky for 27 years and then another 24 years at the former Huron Lime Company in Huron. Before officially retiring in June, 2022, he spent four years working in grounds maintenance at Cedar Point.

Rodney was a huge sports fan who loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Most of all, Rodney loved spending time with family whom he loved more than anything. He was the guy everyone could count on, showing up no matter what the need or time of day. He will be greatly missed by so many family, friends, and caregivers. The family would like to thank ProMedica Hospice Service Northwest Ohio and caregivers for all their help and assistance with granting him one last wish, getting him home where he could be at peace.

Rodney is survived by his daughter, Autumn (Kristen) Peters of Pataskala; son, Rodney (Mackenzie) Peters of Delaware, Ohio; two granddaughters, Avery and Harper Peters; three grandsons, Bennett, Bowen, and Brooks Peters; siblings, Dori (Mike) Tansey of Vermilion, Georgia (Lauren) Smith of Vermilion, Esther Peters of Sandusky, Frannie Falkenhagen of Sandusky, Clarence (Nanette) Peters of Sandusky, Lewis (Heidi) Peters of Sandusky, Martin Peters of Sandusky, Jackie (Marty) Gilbert of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Wayne (Diane) Peters of Sandusky, Thea (Steve) Smith of Huron, and Henry Peters of Cincinnati; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Charles Rodney Peters Sr.; mother, Thelma (Sartor) Peters; sister, Rose Marie; brother-in-law, David Falkenhagen; and nephew, Brian Tansey.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at David F. Koch Funeral & Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. After visitation, the family invites those who would want to celebrate Rodney's life to join them at Old Dutch Tavern, 2219 Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Those wishing to contribute to Rodney's memory may do so to ALS Association – Northern Ohio Chapter, 6133 Rockside Rd., #301 Independence, Ohio, 44131, or Promedica Hospice Serving Northwest Ohio, 907 W. State St., Suite A, Fremont, Ohio, 43420.
