Sandusky

Catherine Veronica Meyers, 96, was born March 21, 1929, in Venice, Ohio.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary (Fitz) Braun; her

husband, Russell; her brothers, Joseph, Bernard, and Gerard; her sister, Sr. Mary Sarah S.N.D.; her sisters-in-law, Lucy, Phyllis and Marilyn; and brother-in-law, Tony Karich.

She is survived by her siblings, Rosemary Karich, Therese (Roger) Herold, and Paul

(Sharon) Braun. She is also survived by her six children, Gregory Havemeyer, Margaret (Norman) Carter, Patricia (Philip) Zitko, Thomas (Farzana (Fran)) Meyers, Anne (David) Samanich, and Teresa (Darrell) Pappa. Catherine is blessed with 13 wonderful grandchildren, Benjamin, Sara, Lucas, Philip, Thomas, Natalie, Christina, Natasha, Nicole, Caroline, Christine, Katherine, Darrell, Claire and Michael. She also has 11 beautiful great-grandchildren, Elias, Josephine, William, Freya, Emery, Leo, Matthew, Clark, Darrell, Heath, and Theodore.

Catherine's life centered around her love for her family and friends and her unwavering devotion to God. Catherine deeply admired Padre Pio and found strength in prayer through the Divine Mercy Chaplet. She often made pilgrimages to the Sorrowful Mother Shrine. She was a role model for many. Her early years were formative, growing up on a dairy farm in a large family. After graduating from Margaretta High School, she was employed as a secretary at Hinde and Dauch. In 1952, she married Russell Meyers, and together they raised their six children in the Sandusky area. She was a devoted mother, wife and a talented homemaker. She later enjoyed working as an auxiliary services clerk in the library at Holy Angels Elementary School. Always willing to learn something new, she took adult classes in computer, painting, German and teacher aide training.

Catherine was a life-long member of Holy Angels Parish. Her many creative talents were shared through her volunteer work, including her participation on the bereavement committee, sewing baptismal and religious garments, and counting the weekly collection.

Throughout her life, Catherine enjoyed many travel adventures. Trips included

Florida, California, the Caribbean, Scotland, Italy, Poland, and Germany. She even rode a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with her family at the age of 72.

Catherine loved word games and had a competitive spirit. She often won at Scrabble

and played Wordle until her very last week. She was a joyful light in her family's lives and will be forever in their hearts.

Catherine was the best Sister-in-law. Spending many hours with her talking about her early years at the farm was something I will always remember.
Wonderful next door neighbor.

Cack was a great cousin and very special to me. We grew up together on the farm and she and my younger sister were the three that played together. We, along with others in our two families, had a playhouse next to the dairy and enjoyed fun together. We had a guest book, and even asked a visiting Bumb to sign it for us. We were so proud of it. I have many happy memories, including my last visit with her last year. I will dealy miss her.
