Greenwich

Johnnie Hicks, born November 4, 1945, in Floyd County, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at age 80, after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family. Johnnie was a 1965 graduate of Maytown High School in Maytown, Kentucky.

An avid outdoorsman, Johnnie was a hunter and fisherman. Johnnie was proud of his garden and enjoyed growing vegetables that he later canned so that his family could enjoy them for months. He was often found sitting on his back porch, taking in the sights and sounds of nature and enjoyed watching the birds.

Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Cora "Frances" Hicks, whom he married August 12, 1967; a son, Kevin Hicks of Greenwich; his great-grandson, Johnathon Barnett of Greenwich, whom Johnnie and Cora raised as a son; a daughter-in-law, LaDonna (Oney) Hicks of Clyde; grandchildren, Emily (Caleb) Logan of Clyde, Ian Hicks of Shelby, Corie Hicks (Justin Barnett) of Willard; great-grandchildren, Ayva, Quentyn, and Bailey Hicks of Clyde, Hunter Fortune and Treyvon Isaac of Norwalk, Cameron and Colton Logan of Clyde, Eleanor Barnett of Willard and another great-grandson due to arrive in July; sister, Jeanette (Robert) Hamilton of Greenwich; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Madison and Eva Hicks; daughter, Sara Hicks; son, Steven Hicks; sisters, Wanda and Lois Hicks; and grandson, Jordan Hicks.

Johnnie was loved and will be missed by many. "Rest in peace, our sweet, precious husband, father, and grandpa, we love you so much".

Johnnie's visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Greenwich First Baptist Church, 96 Townsend St., Greenwich, OH 44837. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the church. Interment will follow services at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
