Beulah Virginia Casto

Willard
Beulah Virginia Beckner Casto, 90, resident of Willard, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born January 15, 1935, in Anamaria, West Virginia, to the late Grant and Ruth (DePew) Beckner. Beulah graduated from Grantsville High School in 1952 and attended Glenville State College, where she met her future husband, Charles Casto, whom she married May 13, 1956.
A few weeks after their marriage, Charles was drafted into the United States Army, while Beulah continued to work as a secretary at the state capital in Charleston, West Virginia. Beulah continued to work at the capital, while Charles spent 18 months in Germany. SSgt. Casto completed his time of service in Texas, where Beulah joined him until he was discharged. Charles and Beulah spent a year in Logan, West Virginia, where he taught art and history, and she worked as a secretary for an insurance company.
From there, Charles accepted a teaching position at Willard Exempted Village Schools, teaching 7-12 art in 1959, and they moved to Willard. Beulah worked as a substitute teacher and a secretary for R.R. Donnelly's until the arrival of their adopted children when she began her most cherished position - that of a full-time mother. Beulah enjoyed her time as a full-time mother and housewife, driving kids to various school activities, music and swimming practices, church activities, being a den mother, Girl Scout leader, and homeroom mother at school. Beulah reentered the workforce as church secretary at Grace Methodist Church and then became an award-winning Avon Lady for 30 years. Beulah also worked in childcare at Willard Christian Day Care and as a private childcare provider for the four wonderful Myers children.
After retirement Beulah and Charles enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Beulah's faith in Christ was a vital part of her life that she worked hard to live out. She never met a stranger and was a friend to many.
Beulah was a member of Willard Christian Alliance Church. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Mikki) Casto of Willard; a daughter, Kellie Kalash of Columbus; five grandchildren, Alec Casto, Rachel Casto, Ahmad (Morgan) Kalash, Omar Kalash, and Mustafa Kalash; and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Evander Kalash; along with many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Casto; her brother, Gerald Beckner; and her sister, Alice Patricia Renker.
