Betty J. (Jury) McCarty, age 100, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Gaymont Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 4, 1922, in Wyandot, Ohio, to the late J.A. and Ruth Harris Jury. Betty served as a licensed practical nurse for a number of years prior to locating in Norwalk, where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, DAR, and Eastern Star Queen Esther chapter. She enjoyed golf, gardening, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She was a 11-time ladies champion golfer at the former Norwalk Elk's Country Club in Norwalk.

She is survived by her sister, Joanne Gongwer; sons, Michael (Donna) McCarty of Aiken, South Carolina, Patrick (Beverly) McCarty of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and John (Diana) McCarty of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Gwen, Lucille, Ted; and husband of 67 years, Arthur M. McCarty.

A family celebration of life and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
