Annalee Fondriest (nee Simmerman), 87, of Canal Fulton, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at Danbury Senior Living after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Clay Township, and had been a Canal Fulton resident for the past six years after moving from Norwalk.
Annalee worked for GTE, where she met the love of her life, Ervin, as a secretary, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Barberton. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, especially Christmas caramels, special noodles, and blueberry pie. She also enjoyed playing cards, word searches, and watching old westerns while wrapped in a heated blanket and enjoying a sweet treat.
She is survived by her daughter, Faith (Scott) Green of Canal Fulton; son, David (Monica) Fondriest of Norwalk; and seven grandchildren, Brad (Cole) Green, Joe (Jenna) Green, Meg (Joe) Theil, Michaela (Jeff) Sours, Stephen Fondriest, Chandler (Allison) Fondriest, and Malia Fondriest. "Cookie Grandma" will be missed by great- grandchildren, Charlotte and Tessa Green, Grayson and Scarlet Green, and Jax Theil. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Simmerman; brother-in-law, Ronald (Sue) Fondriest; and dear friends, Curtis and Sharlene Coffield, and Tina Theil.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ervin Fondriest; parents, Aurthur Lee and Dorothy (nee Rank) Simmerman; sister, Isabel Ravine; and brother, Larry Simmerman.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, until the time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Parish, 1263 Shannon Ave., Barberton, Ohio, 44203. The Reverend Bob Jackson will officiate. Private family interment will be at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery, Dover.
