Timothy Paul Melching, 80, residing in Norwalk, passed away early Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, at Mercy Health - Lorain Hospital after a brief illness.

Tim was born on June 29, 1945, in Sandusky, to the late John P. and Betty J. (Scott) Melching.

Tim was a 1963 graduate of Sandusky High School. Over the years, he worked at Cedar Point Marina, Norwalk Furniture, and as a self-employed painter before retiring from Shaker Village as a painter. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Tim was an avid golfer who also enjoyed watching sports, especially cheering for the Detroit Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He also found joy in painting and, most of all, in spending time with his family and friends.

Tim is survived by his two sons, Mark (Colleen) Melching of Mentor and Matthew Melching of Norwalk; daughter, Amanda (Aaron) Toole of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Brandy, Brian, Emma and Michael; great-grandson, Ari. He is also survived by his sister, Andrea (Jim) Armstrong of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Tim is preceded in death by his brothers, Jeffrey D. Melching and John S. Melching; and sister in infancy, Susan Marie Melching.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Michael Conklin presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
