Susan L. Magill, 79, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2022, at MetroHealth in Cleveland.

Susan was born Aug. 2, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Wilbur Leonard and Elenore G. (Esch) Beck.

Susan graduated from South Central High School as a member of the class of 1961. She furthered her education at Rio Grande and eventually graduated from Ashland University with a bachelor's degree in education. Susan was a teacher for Monroeville, Howland, South Central, and Christie Lane. She also spent many years as a substitute teacher for Huron County public schools. Before returning to teaching, Susan also ran a home daycare and was a foster parent to 36 kids. She had a strong faith and was a highly active member of Hartland Center Community Church since 1982. In her spare time, Susan enjoyed reading her Bible, crocheting, playing cards and games. Her greatest joy of all was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susan attended every event she could and would coordinate her schedule around being there for her family.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dennis Magill, who she married June 24, 1967, after courting her for seven years; three children, Patrick (Shannon) Magill of Marengo, Sharon (Michael) Salmon of Sandusky, and Michelle (Jonah) Collins of North Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Mackenzie, Job (Danielle), Matthew, Alexis (Dylan), Mackalah, Lucas, and Lilli; two great-grandchildren, Jolene and Olive, and one more on the way; siblings, Barbara (Gerald) Sweeting of California, Patricia Sweeting of Florida, and Gordon (Pam) Beck of Huron; and numerous cousins and other loving relatives.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Beck.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Susan's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.
