Shirley McCoppin Obituary

Shirley I. (Marsh) McCoppin, 95, a lifelong resident of New London, passed peacefully from this life to the next Friday, February 21, 2025, at The Laurels of New London. She was born August 4, 1929, in New London to the late Louis and Hazel (McFarland) Marsh. Shirley was a 1947 New London High School graduate.
Forever kind and never extravagant, Shirley always supported her children and grandchildren in athletic, academic, and extracurricular pursuits. She was an avid Cleveland Indians (Guardians) fan and loved living in New London.
Shirley worked for Miller Brothers, where she was a dairy manager, C.E. Ward, and the former Harvey's. Her favorite occupation, however, was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and from that, she never retired.
She is survived by her children, Thomas E. (Chris) McCoppin of New London, Marsha "Susie" McCoppin-Scheerer of Norwalk, and Lori McCoppin of New London; grandchildren, Tommy (Kaila) McCoppin, Sara (Kyle) Smith, and Matthew (Katie) Scheerer; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Thomas E. McCoppin Sr., and siblings, Leonard Marsh, Dorothy Bone, Leah Stover, Ann Walter, Lewis "Bud" Marsh, Lois Marsh, Norma Marsh, and Charles "Ted" Marsh.
Graveside service will be private.
