Reyes "Ray" Ibarra, 89, of Wakeman, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at home.
He was born April 13, 1934, in San Benito, Texas, to Miguel and Julia (Huerta) Ibarra.
Ray enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Dallas Cowboys fan, and a retired Karate Instructor. Ray retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of service.
He is survived by his children, Teresa Grose of Elyria, Patricia Ibarra of Columbus, Miguel Ibarra of Sandusky, Melida Jones of Wakeman, Diane Wilhelm of Montgomery, Alabama, and Verneita (John) Ibarra of Greenwich; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lazaro Ibarra of Brownsville, Texas, and Candelaria (Dimas) Flores of Victoria, Texas.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 45 years, Joan (Garcia) Ibarra; brothers, Jose Ibarra and Pablo Ibarra; and sisters, Juanita Fuentes, Lupita Diaz, Carmen Ibarra, and Mary Stuart.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. A brief service will be at 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care, 290 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, Ohio, 44857.

So sorry for your loss! Reyes was a good man, he was a lot of fun to take karate lessons with. He worked for us such a joy having him in our shop.

Ray was a good friend, I had worked with Rey in coushin department at Ford, eat lunch with him every day we worked. Was in karate school with him. Sorry about his passing. He was a real good friend . Bill Bolyard
