Ohlen Brock Obituary

Ohlen Ray Brock

Oct 7, 1957 - May 9, 2025

Huron, formerly of Bellevue

Ohlen Ray Brock, 67, of Huron, formerly Bellevue, passed away peacefully from complications of multiple myeloma Friday, May 9, 2025, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born October 7, 1957, in Hamilton to Mary and Roy Brock.

He grew up in East Danville, Ohio, near Hillsboro. He graduated valedictorian of the class of 1975 from Whiteoak High School in Mowrystown, Ohio. His death occurred shortly before their 50-year class reunion. Ohlen attended Ohio Northern University, graduating in 1980 with a pharmacy degree. He owned Leonard's Pharmacy in Bellevue for several years. He worked 30 years for Walmart as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager, retiring May 3, 2024, from the Norwalk store. He was a people person and loved his coworkers and customers.

Ohlen was a strong Christian, serving as an elder, financial officer, Sunday School teacher, and Missions chairman, and served on the board of Obediah's Hope Equine Ministry.

Ohlen loved to travel, especially on cruises, where he enjoyed many seafood dishes. His favorite trip was an African Safari in 2023. He was a lifelong Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, Bearcats and FC Cincinnati fan. His latest team was the Cleveland Monsters Hockey team. Ohlen was a wonderful son, husband, father, and the very best grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, (Margaret) Elaine (Markley) Brock. They married July 31, 1982, in Marysville. Also surviving are two sons, Adam Barrett (Rachel) Brock of South Lyon, Michigan, and Major Nathan David (Sarah) Brock serving in Eastern Europe. Ohlen had four granddaughters, Evelyn Grace, Lydia Anne, Beatrice Mauve, and Anastasia Sophia Brock. He is survived by his mother, Mary Louise (Mathews) Brock Roberts; his brother, Patrick (Lori) Brock of Hillsboro; a sister-in-law, Debbie Brock, and brothers-in-law, David (Kathy) Markley and Bruce (Susan) Markley. Ohlen also had a bonus family, Dr. Eli (Karoline) Ross; and four grand buddies, E.J., Luka, Jeffrey, and Peter Ross.

Ohlen was preceded in death by his father, Roy Edward Brock; his oldest brother, Michael Barrett Brock; and his in-laws, Margaret and David Markley Sr.

Friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. Sunday May 18, 2025, at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, and from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday May 19, 2025, at First Christian Church, 3410 Hayes Ave, Sandusky. One more thing. My mother, Barbara Littlejohn, also passed away from Multiple Myeloma. Calls from Fairview Tennessee so many times telling me her latest "numbers" from her blood test. She fought hard with stem cell treatments and transfusions. God takes the good ones an awful lot.

A Great, Kind, Wonderful man. Always awesome. Never seemed to get caught up with church politics when we were members of the Bellevue Church of Christ. At Walmart, he was always nice. Again, a Great man.

My heartfelt condolences to your entire family. The world is a little less now that a truly caring, personable, courteous, and professional person that Ohlen was. Ohlen always had a sincere smile, was never too busy, and always patient whenever I needed help with a pharmacy matter or anything else. It was not just with me, as I would observe him interacting with others, Ohlen was the same. This was just Ohlen's manner. I am truly Blessed for having him share a portion of his professional life with me. Dear Family of Ohlen, though it is difficult, take comfort in the fact that he need not suffer the burdens of this life anymore. He lives on in all your hearts and in the lives of all those that he touched.
May Our Lord God Creator Saviour continue to comfort you and abide with Always, Amen.
