Nancy Anne (Leland) Whitacre, 84, of Wakeman, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Saturday, April 26, 2025, at her home.
Born October 30, 1940, in Cleveland to Leonard and Margaret (Kiser) Leland.
Nancy lived a life rooted in family, faith, and the simple joys of everyday living. She was known for her love of gardening, finding peace and happiness among her flowers. Nancy's greatest pride and joy was her family. She poured her heart into creating a home where everyone felt welcomed, loved, and supported. Whether hosting family gatherings, passing down recipes, or sharing stories, Nancy's presence was the heart of every occasion. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Nancy's legacy will live on through her family and the many lives she touched with her gentle spirit.
She married her husband, John "Jack" Whitacre May 7, 1960, and they had four children. She worked for many years as a head cashier at Sears. She was also a member of St Mary Catholic Church, Wakeman.
Nancy is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Brenda) Whitacre; daughters, Kim (Mark) Blair, Jennifer Key, and Julie Markus; grandchildren, Lauren Markus (Nick Scaggs), Dylan (Felicia) Markus, Chelsea French, Ryan (Michelle) Blair, Ashley Blair (Addison Fisher), Jason Blair, Allison Whitacre, and Tanner Whitacre; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Wisniewski; brother, Dennis Leland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Whitacre, in 2012.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home, Wakeman Chapel, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wakeman, with Father Ron Brickner presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Wakeman, at a later date.
