Mary Watson Obituary

Mary Margaret Watson

Jul 28, 1954 - Feb 19, 2024

Tiffin

Mary Margaret (Widman) Watson, 69, of Tiffin, peacefully passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at her home home surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Mary was born July 28, 1954, in Norwalk, to George and MaryRose (Cooper) Widman. Mary was a 1972 graduate of Norwalk High School and 1975 graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing, Toledo. Mary wed Dean Steven Watson on July 3, 1976, the year of the bicentennial and they have resided in Tiffin ever since as members of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mary is the proud mother of four children, Sarah (Steve) Newland, Seth (Erin) Watson, Anna (Lloyd) Hudson, and Marta (Tyler) Yazrombek and the devoted grandmother of seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Silas, Carter, Pierce, Augustus, Maxwell, and Cecily. Mary will be missed by her loving siblings, Joseph (Barb) Widman of Norwalk, Ruthann Stocker of Norwalk, William (Carrie) Widman of St. Marys, and Christopher (Joni) Widman of Tiffin.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved younger brother, Mark.

Mary spent 45 years of service in nursing through Mercy Hospital of Tiffin and Good Shepherd Home of Fostoria. Mary was a dedicated Obstetrics and Wound Clinic nurse as well as a STNA and Dementia trainer. She had many summers spent and memories made as a camp nurse at Bryn Mawr Camp of Honesdale, Pennsylvania. She had an extreme passion for the caring of others as well as nursing education for the next generation of caregivers.

One of her most favorite hobbies included sitting on her porch in the sunshine enjoying a good book. If not at her children's or grandchildren's sporting events, Mary could be found in her vegetable and flower gardens, at a local craft show or farmers' market, or traveling throughout this country and the world with her husband and their good friends. Every Sunday would be spent with her mother and extended family celebrating with good food, laughter, and an occasional game of wiffleball. She cherished family trips to Disney World, Cedar Point, and Valley Beach with her siblings, nieces, and nephews. At any point, an adventure was never too far away. She loved to have music in the house as well as making many memories cooking and baking with her children. She was the friend you always wanted and the sister you didn't want to live without.

Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her and was a very special light in everyone's lives. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. The Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass at church. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin. Burial will follow services Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mary was an excellent, caring nurse. I worked with her at Mercy. Even though she many times did not feel well, she always had that beautiful smile for everyone. I truly believe this woman had a direct route to heaven. She will be missed.

Mary was a great and kind person.
Growing up amongst the Watson´s was something I´ll never forget
She always looked out for us and would open her house to any of us. We were treated like family
And for that I shall be ever grateful
Rest in heaven Mary
