Mary L. (George) Mingus, 74, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at home after a lengthy illness beside her husband, Michael.

Mary was born April 1, 1949, in Coeburn, Virginia, to Floyd and Cynthia (Hill) George.

Mary first worked at Foster Grant where she met her husband, Michael. They were married March 29, 1969, and celebrated just three weeks shy of 55 years of marriage. Mary also worked as a cook in Castalia and in Port Sandusky on Market Street.

Mary was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ. She enjoyed camping, flowers, and cooking, but most of all, spending time with her family especially the grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband, Michael Mingus; two daughters, Cynthia (Bernie) Koch and Terry Walters; son, Michael C. (Rachel) Mingus; sister, Marsha (David) Keene-Decatur of Arizona; brother, Daniel George of Columbus; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allen, Joe, and Larry George; and sister, Tammy Detillian.

It was Mary's wish that there be no visitation or services and cremation will take place.

Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sandusky, is assisting family with arrangements.
