Marissa Brooke Skaggs, 20, of Berlin Heights, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at her home after a lifelong battle with Congenital Heart Disease and Kabuki Syndrome.

She was born March 3, 2004, and became a blessing to the Skaggs home in 2005.

Marissa loved her life. She was never far from her best friend, Teddy Ruxpin, or her Lukey Bear. Whether camping, shopping for toys, watching her birdhouse, or just being "bored" on her iPad, she did it with a joyful heart. She enjoyed trips to Disney and cherished her Make-A-Wish trip to Hawaii. She loved joking around with her brother, going on sister dates, and spending time with her family.

Marissa is survived by her parents, Tom and Michelle Skaggs; brother, Lucas Skaggs; sister, Mariah (Zephaniah) Pierson; nephew, Ezra Pierson; grandparents, Thomas and Linda Skaggs and Ruth Wilcox; and aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved her.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents; uncle, Steve Skaggs; and cousin, Hannah Edwards.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, and 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, until the time of Marissa's funeral at 11 a.m., all at Calvary Baptist Church, 250 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk. Andrew Johnston will preside. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights.

Those wishing to contribute to Marissa's memory may do so to the Ohio Chapter of The Make-A-Wish Foundation or Hospice of the Western Reserve Pediatric Team because they both deeply touched her life.
