Johnnie Stovall Obituary

Johnnie Pearl Jones Stovall

Mar 17, 1945 - Jul 16, 2023

Sandusky

Johnnie "Pearl" Jones Stovall, 78, of Sandusky, peacefully transitioned from earthly life Sunday morning, July 16, 2023, in the comfort of her home.

Pearl was born March 17, 1945, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, to David Jones Sr. and Alice (Smith) Jones.

At the tender age of 9, her nuclear family moved to Sandusky. Pearl attended Perkins High School. Her employment history includes Cedar Fair, Victorian Manor, Firelands Hospital, and lastly retiring from General Motors in the early 90's. Pearl found immense pleasure and comfort cooking for others. A few of her fan favorites were spaghetti, dressing, collard greens, and sweet potato pie. Pearl enjoyed playing spades, vegas, and practical jokes. We all knew she could not sit down when "blurred lines and step in the name of love" were played.

Pearl leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Rachon Stovall of Richton Park, Illinois, Monique Stovall and Katrice Stovall, both of Sandusky, and Brooke Stovall of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Thomas Stovall Jr., of Sandusky; grandchildren, Michael Stovall, Rashad Stovall, Dominique Stovall, Dejour Stovall, Zaire Stovall, Karazhane Grant, Karoz Grant, Dior Stovall, Edmund Stovall, and Unique Stovall; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Stovall, Nova Stovall, Aniya Bell-Stovall, Zakari Stovall, Zaven Stovall, Ja'Vari Stovall, Jacobi Dix, Ava Dix, Ka'Cion Morris, and twins Aalia and Amarii Dix; sisters, Jessie Gordon and Demetriss "Ann" Jones, both of Sandusky, Nettie (Ronald) Ellis of Huron, Dorothy (Butch) Jackson of Sheffield, and Shirley Jones of Waynesboro, Mississippi; brothers, Lemon (Carolyn) Jones, William (Rebecca) Jones, Ray Grant, and Anthony Jones Sr., all of Sandusky; and friend and father of her children, Thomas Stovall Sr. of Sandusky.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruth Jones, Ruteal Staten, Edna Jones, Mary Wright, and Nancy Jones; and brothers, Jerry Jones, Roosevelt Cole, Jimmie Jones, and David Jones.

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Pearl's funeral will be 12 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2023, at the church with the Rev. C.J. Johnson Jr. officiating and Minister Sheila Graves giving the eulogy. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
