Joan H. Ackerman, 84, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 11, 2025. She was born April 2, 1940, in Norwalk to the late Clayton and Helen (Bischoff) O'Dell. Joan was a 1958 Norwalk High School graduate.

She cherished time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed golf, bridge, playing cards and board games. Joan was a case worker at Job and Family Services for over 30 years and a longtime member of the Norwalk First Presbyterian Church and member of American Legion No.41, Auxiliary. She also volunteered for many years for Norwalk Area Food Bank and Senior Enrichment Services.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Renee) Pleasnick and Christine Pleasnick; stepchildren, Ken (Tina) Ackerman, Mike (Diane) Ackerman, and Jennifer (Ron) Ackerman; grandchildren, Melissa, Miriam, and Mary Pleasnick; stepgrandchildren, Brian (Tia)Ackerman, Scott (Shannon)Ackerman, Amber Lake, Kate and Luke Ackerman; great-grandchildren, Ernie Ackerman, Jake Ackerman, and Cole Ackerman; two nieces and a nephew; and "honorary children and grandchildren", Kara, Mya, Camryn, Danielle, Mark, Elizabeth, and Lucia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald Ackerman in 2022; and sister, Rosemary Conney.

Joan's visitation will be from 11- noon Monday, March 17, 2025, at Norwalk First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk, OH 44857, where funeral services will begin after the visitation at noon. Burial will follow the funeral service at St. Paul Cemetery.
