Jenny Hurst Obituary

Jenny Lu Hurst

Sep 1, 1960 - Mar 15, 2025

Willard

Jenny Lu Hurst, 64, of Willard, and formerly Norwalk, passed away peacefully at Mercy Health Willard Hospital Saturday, March 15, 2025, after a sudden illness.

She was born September 1, 1960, in Norwalk to Alvin Brian Sr. and Marjorie Ann Hurst. Jenny is survived by her son, Nathan Brian Hurst; and daughter-in-law, Jessica Rae Hurst.

Jenny graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1979 and worked at her parents' farm, delivering baby pigs and helping with all farm operations. Later, Jenny went to work at Firelands Federal Credit Union of Norwalk and, after many years, retired to take care of her elderly parents full-time. She enjoyed volunteering at Norwalk Area Food Bank, where she befriended many. Her kind heart made her become especially close to those in need, and everyone who met Jenny loved her.

Jenny's most precious blessing in life was her son, Nathan, and she enjoyed watching him succeed in all aspects of life, from school and sports to the business world. Her daughter-in-law, Jessica, was the daughter she always wanted, and she enjoyed traveling to the Columbus area to spend time with them. One of her favorite pastimes with her kids was watching and talking football, especially her "Cleveland Brownies." Jenny also adored her three cats.

She is survived by son, Nathan Hurst (Jessica), of Galena; five brothers, James Hurst, of Norwalk, Mikel (Janie) Hurst, of Winchester, Kentucky, Russell (Jeanie) Hurst, of Shreve, Mark (Sherry) Hurst, of Wooster, and Matthew (Betsy) Hurst, of Elyria; three sisters, Karen (David) Higgins, of Lexington, Christine (Tracy) Jones, of Mansfield, and Cindy (Tim) Brown, of Shelby; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mitch and Mary Hegedusic, of Norwalk.

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Brian Hurst Sr. and Marjorie Ann Hurst; grandparents, Meryl and Metia Hurst and Ruth and Daniel McDonald; and brother, Alvin Hurst Jr.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff and Chaplain of Mercy Health - Willard Hospital as well as Toft Funeral Home, Wakeman Chapel.

Cremation will take place. A brief graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2025, at Wakeman Cemetery, with Pastor Rich Hurles officiating.

Anyone who would like to donate in Jenny's memory may do so to Norwalk Area Food Bank, 99 Whittlesey Ave. Unit C, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857, or to an animal shelter of their choice.

Toft Funeral Home, Wakeman Chapel, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman, is handling the arrangements.

Prayers to Jenny´s family. I always enjoyed her smile and conversations at the Credit Union. We would always have stories about family and local high school sports both there and if I saw her at Walmart! And she always saved a calendar for me. God speed Jenny.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jenny. We went to school together and then we would see each other at the bank or our best place Walmart. I will miss seeing her smiling face and talking to her. Love and prayers to her family.
