Harry DeVeny Obituary

Harry "Joe" W. DeVeny Jr.

Aug 12, 1945 - Feb 10, 2026

Sandusky

Harry "Joe" Warren DeVeny Jr., 80, went to be with the Lord late Tuesday evening, February 10, 2026, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born August 12, 1945, in Youngstown, to the late Harry and Genieve (Matteson) DeVeny.

Joe graduated from Western Reserve High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, proudly serving his country for 22 years. He was a skilled home builder for many years and later owned his own trim-and-stairs company. Joe was a member of Freedom Christian Fellowship Church. He enjoyed classic cars and fishing, but most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.

Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane (Riedy) DeVeny. He is also survived by his daughter, Mindee (Curt) Brunow; son, Jeffrey (Lindsey) DeVeny; grandchildren, Hannah, Austin, Jackson, Mason, and Deacon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his sisters, Judy, Sheila and Sandy.

Memorial Service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at Freedom Christian Fellowship Church, 4935 OH-601, Norwalk, OH 44857. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.
