Janet Heald Obituary

Janet Heald

Jan 21, 1936 - Jan 1, 2026

Norwalk

Janet Heald, 89, formally of Norwalk, entered eternal rest Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born January 21, 1936, to Tuey and Erma Croskey of Killbuck. Growing up on a farm, she realized the importance of hard work and dedication.

Janet worked at Pomerene Hospital for nine years as a central supply nurse. She also worked at Durable Mat Corporation in Norwalk, Van Dresser and Norstat. Later, she resumed her healthcare career at Edison Healthcare in Milan, Ohio.

She met the love of her life, Al Heald. Their 38-year marriage was a true testament of time, commitment, and love, only ending when Al was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.

She was a loving mother to two children, one boy and one girl. She is survived by her sister, Sandra; daughter, Pam Kinder, formerly of Norwalk, now of Texas; grandchildren, Dylan Gussie and Shelby, Carrie Kinder of Norwalk, Andrew (Brenda) Kinder of Texas, and Bradley (Maria) Kinder of Texas. She had many great-grandchildren, Zurina Kinder, Anton Luna of Texas, and Matthias Kinder of Colorado, and a great-great-grandchild, Vivian Kinder of Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews survive her as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tuey and Erma Croskey, her husband, Alfred Heald, and her son, Michael Croskey.

Janet enjoyed various crafts, including coloring, drawing, and knitting on plastic mesh canvas. She was an avid card player and the President of the Firelands Senior Citizens Club for many years. She was also a main star in the Senior Citizens Fun Band alongside her husband, Al. Her true joy came from spending time with those she loved and deeply cared about. She did not believe in having idle hands, and you could always find her busy at work, cutting the grass, doing dishes, cleaning the house, and doing laundry. She consistently made a positive impact, no matter where life took her. The lives she impacted know all too well the void that her passing leaves behind. The last three years of her life were spent with her family in Texas, where she enjoyed the family atmosphere and the love and support she deeply needed.

She became a member of Freedom Church Coastal Bend in Aransas Pass, Texas, where she came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.

Visitation for Janet will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Her funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.

Memorial contribu-tions may be directed to family in care of the funeral home.
