Geraldine Palmer Obituary

Geraldine A. Palmer

Jan 25, 1944 - Mar 24, 2024

Milan

Geraldine A. (Fournier) "Geri" Palmer, 80, of Milan, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.

Geri was born Jan. 25, 1944, in Waterville, Maine, and grew up in Fairfield, Maine.

She met her husband, Glenn, while he served in U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, Maine. They were married Feb. 24, 1962, in South Portland, Maine, and resided in Bangor. After Glenn finished his tour of duty in the Air Force, they moved to Ohio in the early 1960s. She was a resident of Village of Milan since 1969.

Geri worked as a nursing assistant at Moravian Villa Nursing Home in Milan for 25 years. She served as a Den Mother to Cub Scout Pack 214 in Milan.

Geri will be remembered as a kind, loving, and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed flower gardening, trips to Amish country, bike riding, and attending her grandchildren's events and performances. Glenn and Geri's many camping trips across the state are fondly remembered and created wonderful memories for her children and grandchildren. Geri was truly happy at home surrounded by her family. Sundays were especially cherished when the family gathered for her delicious pot roast and noodle dinners.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Glenn S. Palmer Sr. of Milan; sons, G. Steven Palmer Jr. and Michael Scott Palmer; daughter, Kimberly Ann (Kevin) Hoffman; grandchildren, Emily (Patricio) Arvizu and Evan Hoffman; close maternal nephew, Jeffrey (Christine) Fournier of Lewiston, Maine; close maternal cousin, Nolly (Wayne) Dostie of Clinton, Maine; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Geri was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Fournier; sisters, Helen Moreau, Linda Brown, and Brenda (Rob) Greatorex; and brother, David Fournier.

Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, until the time of Geri's funeral at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes, 1 South Main Street, Milan, Ohio, 44846. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow at Milan Cemetery.
