Frederick G. "Butch" Reer Sr.

Frederick G. (Butch) Reer, 84, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at his home.

He was born December 5, 1940, in Avery, Ohio, to Frederick and Christine (Eslinger) Reer.

Fred graduated from Berlin Heights High School and married his wife of 61 years, Diane Marie (Keller), in 1959. They had two children, Cynthia and Fred Jr. He was employed at Tenneco in Milan as a machine repairman for 44 years. Fred was a member of Norwalk Methodist Church, as well as the VFW No.2743, Mason Mt. Vernon Lodge, Norwalk and a lifetime member of the Eagles No.711 since 1969. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, camping, cooking out, and spending time with his family.

Recent years, were spent watching old westerns, playing cards with young Fred and Doug Jr., and spending time with his cat.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Donald) Ring; son, Frederick G (Lorinda) Reer Jr; sisters, Debra (John) Bell and Janice Russ; four grandchildren, David (Lisa) Ring, Stephanie Ring, Fred Reer, and Paul Reer; 11 great-grandchildren, Gage, Emily, Cole, Van, Draven, Zoey, Alliyah, Cutter, Jeremiah, Summer, and Jasmine; one great-great-grandchild, Ace; numerous nieces and nephews as well as his long-time feline companion "Boy".

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Diane, in 2020; sister, Elizabeth Houghtlen; brother, Douglas Reer; and grandsons, Derek and Daniel Ring.

Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025,at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Mel Sayler presiding. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Berlin Heights. A luncheon will follow at First Congregational UCC, 5 E Main Street, Berlin Heights.

Those wishing to contribute to Frederick's memory may do so to Huron County Humane Society.
