Eugene "Gene" Brazie died Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.

Gene was born Dec. 5, 1943. He turned 80 years old just a week before. Gene lived in New London until 1986 when he moved to Findlay. He lived in Findlay until moving to Mansfield in 1998.

He leaves behind two brothers; one sister; six children, Cherie (Brazie) Velez, Lisa Brazie, Molly (Brazie) Jenkins, Rebecca Brazie, Sarah Brazie, and Jeremy Brazie; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and loving partner of more than 30 years, Kay Vandlik.

Gene served in U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed working with his hands. He loved model railroading and built a museum quality railroad in his basement. He was musically gifted and could play multiple instruments despite never having learned to read music. He played in multiple bands over the years and loved bluegrass and country music.

Visitation for friends and family will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, until the time of Gene's memorial service at 2 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London.
