Eleanor Genovesi, 88, of Norwalk, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at Norwalk Memorial Home.

She was born August 23, 1937, in Cleveland, to Andrew Gramata and Helen Vorosko Gramata. She moved to Greenville, Pennsylvania, as a child and attended Saint Michael's Catholic school all 12 years, graduating in 1955. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad for two years. In 1957, she married Joseph Genovesi at Saint Michael's Catholic Church and began a family. Mark was born October 18, 1958. Donald was born November 21, 1959, and Jacqueline was born November 6, 1966. In 1975, the family relocated to Norwalk from Sharon, Pennsylvania, as her husband had been appointed a guidance counselor at Norwalk High School. She moved into their home on Valley Park Drive that same year and lived there for over 50 years.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Mark (Kathryn) Genovesi of Toledo; daughter, Jacqueline (Gustavo Gamarra) Genovesi of Alexandria, Virginia; a brother, the Reverend Raymond Gramata of Greenville, Pennsylvania; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Joseph, in 2015; son, Donald in 2006; and brother, Andrew in 1985.

She was a lifelong Catholic and 50 50-year member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Norwalk.

There will be no funeral home visitation, but friends and family will gather at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, for prayer and fellowship.

A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gramata officiating and her son, Mark, Pastoral Leader of Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Toledo, serving as Deacon of the Mass. Internment will immediately follow Mass at Saint Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. Gramata presiding.
