Dorothy Lichoff Obituary

Dorothy Theresa Lichoff

Mar 28, 1937 - Feb 7, 2025

Norwalk

Dorothy Theresa Lichoff, born March 28, 1937, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Friday, February 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and love that will forever resonate with those who knew her.

A devout Catholic, Dorothy lived her faith deeply and authentically, dedicating hours each day to prayer and attending church multiple times a week. Her unwavering devotion was a source of strength and inspiration for her family and community.

Dorothy was the proud and loving mother of seven children, two of whom she now joins in eternal rest – Dennis and Diane. She was a nurturing presence to an extensive family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring love. Her joy was found in the simplest acts of service, like preparing meals for her loved ones or offering a kind word to anyone in need.

In addition to her love for her family and faith, Dorothy found joy in the quiet beauty of flowers, the challenge of puzzles, and the comfort of a good book. She cherished evenings spent playing cards with loved ones or enjoying a game of solitaire on her Kindle. Her calm and thoughtful presence always a reminder of life's simple pleasures. She was an avid fan rooting for and supporting Ohio teams Cleveland Guardians, Ohio State football, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Cavs.

Dorothy had a rare gift of connection – everyone who met her loved her. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit left an unforgettable impression, drawing people to her with ease and leaving them better for having known her.

As a registered nurse, Dorothy dedicated her career to the care and well-being of others, reflecting the kindness and selflessness that defined her life.

Dorothy's quiet strength, humility, and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She lived not for recognition but to serve others and live out her faith's principles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Theresa Anderl; her brother, Gerald; and her children, Dennis 1965 and Diane 1969.

She is survived by her husband, John (65 years); her children, David of Norwalk, Debbie of Indianapolis, Indiana, Daniel of Quitman, Arizona, Denise of Bascom, and Doug of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Rosemary of Bloomer, Wisconsin; brothers, Richard of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Robert of Portland, Oregon, and Francis of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at St. Mary's Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk, with Father Recker officiating, with burial to follow in Willard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for Children, reflecting Dorothy's lifelong commitment to helping those in need.

Dorothy was kind, friendly, gentle and an easy to talk to friend. My husband served on the USS Salamonie with John, so we met the first time in the museum in Warren prior to our first reunion in Niagara Falls; and as a newbee, she made me feel comfortable right away. We had a lot in common and had many meaningful conversations and laughs at the meetings and reunions that followed. She and John were married January 2, 1960 and Don and I January 11, 1960 so we also shared wedding anniversaries and our Catholic faith . My sincere condolences to John and family. They and her friends will keep her in our hearts and fond memories.

Dear Lichoff family:

John so sorry to hear about Dorothy's passing. Knowing this lady for some 20 years she will be missed. Enjoyed our times together in each and every one of our ships reunions across this great country with you & your family. We even had a sort of connection as I had great friends in Bloomer Wi and yes Dorothy had family there. We all hooked up once outside Cleveland Oh for some great conversation.

God Bless the Lichoff family
