Derrick Fitzgerald Keys, 56, was called home to eternal rest Friday, January 31, 2025, after a brief illness. Born July 27, 1968, in Sandusky to Joe G. Keys and Gloria Keys, Derrick was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend whose legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Sandusky High School, Class of 1986, Derrick's life was filled with hard work and dedication. He had a variety of jobs throughout his life, including a fulfilling 10-year career at Ventra. Derrick was passionate about sports, with a special love for his Miami Dolphins. He also enjoyed fishing and spending quality time with his family, always cherishing those moments.
An accomplished athlete, Derrick excelled in both baseball and basketball during his high school years, earning respect for his dedication and skill. Beyond his athletic talents, he was known for his infectious sense of humor, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him. His vibrant spirit, warm heart, and zest for life will forever be missed.
Derrick leaves behind to honor his memory and cherish his legacy, his mother, Gloria Keys; sister, Leslie (Gary) Andrews Jr.; daughter, Jocelynn Kaman (whom he affectionately called "Bubb"); his aunt, Angela Alford; uncles, Kemmes Keys Sr. and Corby Keys Jr.; special cousins and friends; Kemmes Keys Jr., James Keys, Derrick Davis, Keith Roberts, Darrell Turner; and his long-time companion, Anne Osborne.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of the homegoing service at 12 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Emmanuel Temple Church, 128 E. Adams St., Sandusky, Ohio 44870, with Bishop Eugene Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870, is assisting the family with arrangements.
