Port Clinton
Dennis A. McGee, 78, of Port Clinton, went Home to be with the Lord early Friday morning, October 10, 2025, surrounded by his family at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born May 31, 1947, in Port Clinton, the son of Theodore "Ted" and Mary Jane (Steffens) McGee. He was a 1965 graduate of Port Clinton High School. Dennis was a veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors) for 30 years, retiring in 2006.
In years past, he loved drag racing and had a car that he named "The Chevelle." His family will remember him for his love of tinkering in the pole barn and tending to his garden. Dennis loved watching the old western movies and races on TV. Over the years, he had attended St. Stephen United Church of Christ.
Dennis is survived by his two daughters, Tiffany (David) Koeth of Vermilion and Heather (Deven) Peterman of Sandusky; his son, Josh (his fianceé Amanda Csizmadia) McGee of Vermilion; his five grandchildren, Cody, Madison, Ty, and Aiden Koeth and Savannah Missler; the mother of his children, Dianne (Downs) McGee; his niece, Debbie (Brian) Hall; a nephew, Richard Henry; a great-niece, Georgia; and great-nephew, Austin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore McGee; his mother and stepfather, Mary Jane (Steffens) and Eugene Schmardebeck; and a sister, Georgia Ehrhardt.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at noon Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, with the Rev. Harvey O. Studer officiating. Burial will be at Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 83 and V.F.W. Post No. 2529.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to American Red Cross, North Central Ohio, 404 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
