Although I never really got the opportunity to meet Debbie personally, I certainly had so much admiration for her. Her ability to write and share words was incredible. She made you a part of each and every one of her stories. She's the one you wanted to sit down with at the kitchen table and have a cup of coffee and just talk and laugh with.

I met her around 1985 dropping off our kids for school at Maplehurst. I lost my keys, somehow, and was a little upset but she helped me find them and told me this was not a big deal. After that, we would always acknowledge each other. She was a very down to earth woman who loved teaching. She will be missed by so many of us who wished we could be a little like her
