Barbara J. (Disbro) Keefer, of Willard, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 97 years old. Barbara was born July 20, 1927, in Norwalk (at the former Norwalk Memorial Hospital) to the late Ernest L. and DeLee (Parratt) Disbro. She graduated from the former North Fairfield High School and was the class valedictorian.

Barbara loved her family, her greatest joy was working on the farm, gardening, and watching her birds. She was a long-time member of North Fairfield United Methodist Church and had taught Sunday school to 4 and 5-year-olds for over 20 years. She was also a member of the former "Chit Chat Club", the For Efficiency Farm Club, Eastern Stars, and American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to raising her family and working on the farm, she had also worked at Jump Insurance (later Langhurst Insurance) and Keefer Lawn and Garden.

Barbara is survived by her children, Marsha (David) Jump of Willard, Cindy Parrott (Shawn Smith) of Norwalk and Cheryl Fry (Tony Haymond) of Shiloh; sister, Joanne Smith of Peru; grandchildren, Mark, Rebecca, Andrew, Jennifer, Brian, Deana and Todd; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard D. Keefer, in 2007; and grandson, Justin.

Friends and family are invited to her visitation from noon until the time of the 2 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.
