Allen J. Lewis, 77, of North Fairfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his home after a brief battle with leukemia.

Allen was a 1963 graduate of South Central High School and attended Ohio University, Athens, where he met his future wife, Pat. The couple married Oct. 30, 1965.

Allen began working for Minnear & Simmons Plumbing & Heating in the summers while he attended high school and for a year in 1965. After marrying Pat, he began working for Clevite as a lab technician. Later, he worked as a Research Technician at Warner & Swasey in Solon for three years. He then returned to the North Fairfield area in 1971, purchasing land on the family farm to build his home. He worked for a brief time at Norwalk Tire and Alignment before joining his father to work in the masonry business. When his father retired, Allen continued to do masonry work as A.J. Lewis, Masonry and later added excavation services. He retired in 2010.

Allen was an avid fisherman and he and Pat enjoyed many adventures boating on Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair, and the Ft. Myers Beach areas. From the time their son, Will, was two years old, the family went on many camping trips in their "old green pickup truck." In addition, they enjoyed traveling and cruising.

Allen's survivors include his wife, Patricia "Pat"; son, William (Marla) Lewis; granddaughters, Emily (Anthony) Stieber and Sarah (Ethan) Oney; great-grandson, Waylon Reid Oney; sisters, Barbara (Richard) Wobser and Betty (Richard) Bivens; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Eleanor Lewis; brothers, Wayne Lewis and Burton Lewis; and sister, Kathryn Williams.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Allen's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
