Alice E. (Moosbrugger) Blakely, 102, lived a long and loving life until her passing Thursday morning, Oct. 12, 2023, at her home with her children by her side.

Alice was born Aug. 30, 1921, Edwin and Clara (Mainzer) Moosbrugger. She did many things in her truly blessed life. She was a switchboard operator for the telephone company, worked at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School cafeteria and later in life served on the bereavement luncheon team, and worked for Holzaephel Bros. sewing letter jackets. Alice enjoyed doing ceramics with her sister-in-law, Millie Moosbrugger. Our family and friends enjoy many of her created treasured pieces. Mom was an avid golfer, inducted into Mills Creek Golf Course Hall of Fame in 2019. She golfed in three different leagues until she was 98. Over the course of years, she held all league officer positions.

Alice was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Icsman; children, Mark (Helen) Blakely, Cynthia (Robert Brown) Ball, Pamela (Ron) Margetin, Shelley (Mike) Stout, and Kevin (Chris Mueller) Blakely; dear friends, Donna M. and Julie D.; 20 grandchildren and their fiances and spouses; 18 great-grandchildren and their fiances and spouses; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband and high school sweetheart, Robert H. Blakely in 2002; son, Robert D. Blakely in 2008; son-in-law, Ted C. Ball in 2000; three brothers, Howard, Donald, and Ray Moosbrugger; and sister, Ellen McChesney.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, with Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
