Xuan Nguyen Obituary

Xuan T Nguyen

Feb 28, 1929 - Aug 11, 2025

Lewis Center

Xuân T. Nguyn, 96, residing in Lewis Center, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, at Capri Gardens Nursing Home.

She was born February 28, 1929, in Saigon, Vietnam. She and her family were among the first waves of refugees allowed into the United States at the end of the war in 1975. She lived with her oldest daughter, Chanh, and son-in-law, Alan Myers, in Norwalk, and became a lifelong resident for over 40 years.

Ms. Xuân was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She enjoyed cooking authentic and traditional Vietnamese dishes for her family and sharing them with friends. Her specialties were egg rolls and fried rice.

She learned English by watching soap operas, with All My Children and General Hospital being her favorites. With the help of family and close friends, she became a Citizen of the United States in 1997. She kept in touch with her homeland by watching Vietnamese operas, reading Vietnamese newspapers, books, and listening to Vietnamese music.

Ms. Xuân is survived by her children, Phung (Don) Mantooth of Arkansas, Lee (John) Giacalone of Colorado, Kay (Jim) McHale of Texas, Ha Nguyen (Reid Jaquith) of Ohio, and Liem Nguyen of Texas; son-in-law, Alan Myers of Norwalk; grandchildren, Bryan (Cindy) Myers, Jeff Myers, Tag Giacalone, Michael Giacalone and Zachary McHale; great-grandchildren, Riley Myers, Brady Myers and Luke Myers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nguyên V?n Le; daughter, Chanh Myers; sister, Cnh; and brother, Nam.

Graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Norwalk. Arrangements entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
