Winona Gullett Obituary

Winona Sue "Winnie" Gullett

Dec 6, 1949 - Mar 6, 2023

Norwalk

Winona Sue "Winnie" Gullett, 73, of Norwalk, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at Laurels of New London after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her family and received her angel wings while her favorite song, "Over the Rainbow" was playing.

Winnie was born Dec. 6, 1949, in Rockford, Illinois to Edsel and Doris (Allabaugh) Gullett, who preceded her in death.

Winnie graduated from Willard High School in 1967 and retired from Midwest Industries.

Winnie was an amazing cook. She loved whipping up favorite dishes for her friends and family. A few of these dishes include her famous coconut cream pie, custard, city chicken, enchiladas, pistachio pudding cake, and fried chicken, just to name a few. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Her flowers and plants flourished under her TLC.

She absolutely loved to dance. She was known to kick up her heels and start dancing no matter where she was. She was an excellent clogger and took lessons for several years. Most of all, she was a lover of all animals and adopted many rescues throughout the years. She had goats, sheep, dogs, and cats. She truly loved each of them and spoiled them greatly.

Winnie is survived by two children, Faye (Todd) Sterling of Westerville and J. Scott (Tracey) Bradley of Bel Air, Maryland; four beloved grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Addison, and Cooper; wonderful canine companion, Lulu; five sisters, D'Aunn, Sis, Claudette, Mickey, and Karen; many nieces and nephews; best friends, Dianne and Linda; and neighbors, Dee and Paul.

Winnie made the courageous decision to donate her body to Ohio State University College of Medicine.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Many thanks to Southern Care Hospice and Laurels of New London for their kind and compassionate care of Winnie and her family.

Sis keeping you and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers. So shocked to hear that Winnie had been so sick. Went to school with Winnie and she was always so full of energy and always had a smile on her face. May you be blessed with that energy, smile, and all cherished memories made especially on those difficult moments.
