William Charles "Bill" Stein

William Charles "Bill" Stein, 78, of Holton, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at Spectrum Corwell Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Bill was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Sandusky, to William Jack and Helen (Mingus) Stein and graduated with honors from Sandusky High School in 1964. He married Margo Elaine Slowik on June 24, 1968, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick, Michigan. He served in U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam Conflict and is a life member of Holton American Legion. After his service in the Coast Guard, Bill worked for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky. Bill was active in Knights of Columbus and member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Margo; children, James (Leslie) Stein of Holton, Joel Stein of Holton, Jeff Stein of Holton, and Jason Stein of Holton; grandchildren, Tyler Stein, Trent Stein, Riley Stein, and Mackensi Stein; great-grandchildren, Lyric and Eli; sisters, Janet (Robert) Chappell of Sandusky, Penny Royer of Sandusky, and Martha Weidenbach of Sandusky; and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Mart Royer.

Bill's memorial service starting with a rosary at 9 a.m. will be Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Peter Schafer officiating. Visitation will follow from 9:30-11 a.m. before Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. There will be a time of luncheon and fellowship following Mass at Holton American Legion.

Bill and his family have always treated us like family we can't thank them enough for the kindness we received from them all. The loss of Bill for me was like losing my own Dad. I am so sad to learn that Bill has left us. My very deepest condolences to Margo and the boys. I introduced Margo to Bill back in high school and he was wildly in love with her from first sight! I will always have fond memories of their love. Rest in peace my friend.
