William S. "Bill" Johnson, 81, of Wakeman, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Admirals Pointe. Born Oct. 23, 1943, in Ashland, he was the son of the late Paul and Catherine (nee Sweney) Johnson. Bill was a 1961 graduate of New London High School and a lifelong resident of Clarksfield.
Bill served in the Ohio Air National Guard for six years, stationed out of Lahm Air Force Base in Mansfield. He worked for New London Record, Lorain Printing, and Boxboard Packaging in Norwalk. Bill volunteered with Huron County Transit and, for 15 years, coached Little League in New London. He served as a township trustee in Clarksfield for four years and 15 years served as Clarksfield Township Cemetery Sexton.
Survivors include his children, Jennifer (Chad) Hall of Peoria, Arizona and Kevin (Alyse) Johnson of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Dylan, Caleb, Eliot and Emerson; sister, Kay (David) Landrum, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Rick (Sheila), Larry and Tom Boos; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his wives, Susan Angela (nee Stang) and Mary Anne Johnson.
Friends and family will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec 19, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery, Zenobia Road.
